FAQ

Common Questions

Everything you need to know before getting started with Marine.Xos.

Yes. Marine.Xos uses a SATCOM-aware delta sync engine built on Celery and Redis. Vessels operate fully offline and sync only changed records when SATCOM is available — minimizing bandwidth costs while keeping shore and vessel data aligned.
SSOC (Smart-Ship Object Code) is a proprietary Marine.Xos standard. It is a 5-level classification system with 11 domains and 493 subsystems. Once assigned, SSOC codes are permanent and portable — they travel with the equipment across vessel transfers and ownership changes.
Marine.Xos covers MARPOL Annex I (Oil Record Book I — ORB), Annex II (not applicable for most vessels), Annex V (Garbage Record Book — GRB), and Annex VI (Fuel Sulphur Record Book — FSRB). All logbooks include officer digital signatures and tamper-proof audit trails.
CII ratings are updated each time a Noon Report is submitted. The system calculates attained CII from fuel consumption and distance data and compares it against the reference value for the vessel type and size, giving an A-E rating with trajectory projection for the full calendar year.
Using the SSOC Wizard, a full vessel can be classified and onboarded in 1–3 business days depending on fleet size. Equipment data import from existing Excel PMS sheets is supported. Our team provides dedicated onboarding support for Professional and Enterprise plans.
Marine.Xos is designed to produce documentation compliant with MARPOL, ISM Code, MLC 2006, and STCW. Digital logbooks include officer signature chains and audit timestamps. We recommend verifying acceptance with your flag state and classification society for specific document types.
Yes. Marine.Xos is built on a PyWebView desktop wrapper that runs the full React + Django stack locally on Windows. The vessel installation operates independently of internet — perfect for shipboard computers in the engine control room or bridge.
MVT (Maritime Voyage Tool) uses an A* pathfinding algorithm across 3,881 global ports sourced from NGA Pub.150 and UN/LOCODE. It calculates great-circle distance, estimated voyage time, fuel consumption, TCE (Time Charter Equivalent) returns, and port costs — giving voyage economics to Chief Officers and Commercial Managers in one screen.

⚠️ Gaps in Legacy Systems

!
No unified equipment code
Components named differently across vessels — PMS data inconsistent fleet-wide
!
Paper ORB still used
Risk of falsification, pages lost or illegible, no real-time shore access
!
MLC tracked in Excel
No automatic violation detection — violations found by PSC, not management
!
CII calculated after year-end
No mid-year course correction — vessels exceed targets without warning
!
Certificate expiry in spreadsheets
Missed STCW renewals — officers sailing with expired certificates
!
EU ETS untracked
EU Emissions Trading System fines accumulating without voyage-level data
!
No audit trail on logbooks
Tampered physical logs cannot be detected — liability exposure in incidents
!
HSEQ in email & Word files
No structured CAPA workflow — findings closed without proper corrective action
Our Story

Built by a Marine Engineer

Marine.Xos was born out of direct frustration — years spent at sea managing maintenance on paper job cards, tracking crew compliance in spreadsheets, and filing MARPOL logbooks by hand while waiting for port inspections.

Every feature in Marine.Xos maps to a real regulatory requirement or a real operational pain point. We did not build a generic ERP and apply "maritime labels." We built a system where the MARPOL ORB knows what Annex I requires, where the SSOC code knows what an engineer means by "main engine cylinder unit," and where the CII calculator knows what IMO DCS needs.

The mission is simple: give every vessel — regardless of size or flag — the same digital operations capability that only the largest shipping companies could previously afford.

🔵 Marine-First

Every feature maps to an IMO, ISM, MLC or MARPOL regulation

🟢 Built to Outlast

SSOC codes are permanent — they survive system migrations and vessel sales

🟡 Offline-Capable

Full vessel operation with delta sync — SATCOM-aware, bandwidth-minimal

🔴 Regulation-Proven

Every field validated against actual PSC checklist and MARPOL text
